Something(s) Blue.

Some colors tend to make it in our everyday outfits more than others. Lately we have been falling in love with blue and by blue we mean all shades. (non-discerning award goes to us.)

We love the below finds and now just need a place or event for that matter to wear it to. Any suggestions?? What color are you currently stuck on??

Details, we want details.

More Music.

You definitely have heard us wax poetic about The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and to keep up with the trend we started, we present you with yet another amazing artist we discovered there.

Cary Brothers is an indie singer songwriter hailing from Los Angeles. He helped get the original HOTEL CAFE tour on its feet and his songs have been in over 60 television episodes and movies; most famously being Garden State

His new song Belong is featured below. He's amazing, get on board.

Common Interests.

Sometimes we find things we truly connect with. Unbeknownst to us before, they suddenly become the obvious...that's the beauty of life really.

A perfect example is this new artist community/magazine called Kinfolk. After much browsing and (oh's and ah's) we realized we loved every aspect of it's manifesto, visuals, art direction et al.

In their own words...

"Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings. We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just a wedding or once-a-year holiday extravaganza, that anchors our relationships and energizes us. We have come together to create Kinfolk as our collaborative way of advocating the natural approach to entertaining that we love.

Every element of Kinfolk – the features, photography, and general aesthetics – are consistent with the way we feel entertaining should be: simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived. Kinfolk is the marriage of our appreciation for art and design and our love for spending time with family and friends."

Dive in and see for yourself. Simply stunning.

femme du jour: Sonia Delaunay

In her time, Sonia Delaunay was a star of the Paris fashion world, her name synonymous with other icons like Chanel and Jeanne Lanvin. Now she is best known for her contributions to abstract painting, but her avant-garde designs left an indelible mark on the fashion world

Sonia was born in Russia but moved to Paris in 1905 to study art. She soon married fellow artist Robert Delaunay and together they developed a style of abstract cubist painting known as Orphism. Sonia was revolutionary in her ideas that fine art should not be seen as more important than commercial arts and craft. She translated her painting style into every facet of daily life, including textiles, and fashion design and interiors, and was even commissioned by Diaghilev to design sets and costumes for the Russian ballet.

We are happy to see Sonia Delaunay reaching a new audience through a beautiful new book Color Moves: Art & Fashion by Sonia Delaunay, published by the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum. We are so inspired by her 75 year career that we put together a look for you inspired by Sonia and her characteristic bright prismatic forms.

Short and Sweet.

Last week was summer vacation time and we had such amazing adventures back east, soaking in the sun and taking time out to relax and get centered.

During our downtime, one thing we realized, (albeit were probably a little biased), is we cannot live without our Seychelles Boxset sandals. It was not planned but outfit after outfit they just worked and we could not stop wearing them.

If you're looking for the perfect summer sandal, look no further. Tried and true, boxset it is.

Original & Handmade.

We have a new Etsy shop we have fallen in love with called Bold & Noble. Run by husband and wife team, Jane and David it is a bespoke print shop featuring typography, maps and original hand drawn designs.

In an interview Jane described handmade as, "The human touch. Working with things that are tangible, that you can feel and smell. In this fast, digital age, we are lucky to still have contact with materials and be part of the process of having an idea and making it a reality."

We agree. Cheers to you and David for your beautiful works. We can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Bon Apetit

As we mentioned yesterday, we stumbled upon a blog called Tiger in a Jar and fell completely in love with husband and wife team, Matt and Julie. They work in many different creative directions and live by one rule. "Our passion in life is to be creative in every way we can discover."

We could share almost all their postings but landed in unison on this video. Jessica, our Creative Director said it best, when she said, every recipe should look like this.

Watch it and you will know what we mean. Enjoy~
