And the Winners are.

I realize it is far from original and creative content to post about the dresses worn at last night's Oscars but (and this is a large BUT) I think for the first time in forever some were absolutely stunning.

In addition to being an event geared at honoring the blessed few who own their craft, it is also an opportunity for the world to see them display their interpretation of glamour

Here are the highlights, (aka, my favorites)

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab was perfection. PERFECTION...

Michelle Williams is stunning in vintage Chanel. She is always on my favorites list. Remember her yellow Vera Wang from 2006? TO DIE FOR -  (if not click here: http://tinyurl.com/4t5c3r4)

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy is ethereal and statuesque. Bravo, Bravo!!

Who did you think looked amazing??

delightfulness for your Friday

Clare Owen is a UK based illustrator who, in her own words, enjoys "cats, tea, ukulele & all things French." Well, we enjoy her delightful illustrations of fabulous women like Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Ella Fitzgerald and Virginia Wolfe. See more of Clare's work here.

Spring is on the horizon and with it comes the potential for rain showers. I personally love a little break from the sun but it does pose a fashion quandary.

Or does it? World meet Penelope Parasols, the brainchild of beauty expert and makeup artist Lynn Taylor.

She said, “the parasol is an iconic accessory that makes a bold fashion statement. Being British and a bit of a collector, I happened to own a couple of beautiful vintage parasols, which I’d often bring with me to meetings and shoots. Without fail, the stylist or the photographer or sometimes even the subject would inevitably ask to borrow the parasol and make it part of the shot. I realized the parasol was a fashion accessory whose time had returned."

We agree.

retail therapy: Stella Dallas

One day of our NY Fashion Week trip was spent wandering Williamsburg, where we had been told by multiple friends that an absolute must stop is Stella Dallas. This store did not disappoint, it is filled to the brim with vintage Americana. Everything from American flags to wool blankets, this is the place to go for beautiful vintage home goods. And if you're in the area be sure to stop in next door at 10 Ft. Single, where the owners of Stella Dallas have accumulated the best in vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories.

An Evening in the Life.

We at Seychelles are quickly becoming connoisseurs of the fashion week collaboration. We worked it these last ten days not at one but Two runway collection shows and feel all sorts of excited about it!!

Happiness is best when shared though and so we decided to give you a peak behind the scenes of what we got to see and be a part of.

Ivana Helsinki is a contemporary fashion collection out of Finland. For Autumn/Winter 2011, she presented her "Velvet Lake" collection at Lincoln Center in the much coveted final show of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week presentations. Seychelles was on full display, with a custom designed patchwork boot that all 24 models strutted down the runway wearing.

To our new friends, contacts and fashion week goers we say, Cheers. Bravo. Skål.

After Party Delight.

A Match Made in Heaven

We were so pleased to have Hannah at The Loved One use our shoes in her most recent photoshoot. Look how lovely Point of No Return and Care to Dance look paired with her impeccably styled vintage items. We had the pleasure of meeting up with Hannah in NYC and we can assure you, not only is she a talented designer and photographer, but she's a beauty and just a joy to spend time with. Shop The Loved One's vintage collection here, and also check out their line of original, vintage-inspired lingerie over here.

love love love

How could we not be smitten with this new Radiohead video? Not only is Thom Yorke superbly strange, but these dance moves are incredible and it's beautifully shot. Doesn't get any better than this for a Monday.

A Pocketful of Seychelles.

Seychelles left it's mark during Fall/Winter 2011's New York Fashion Week by collaborating with Stacy Igel's collection, Boy Meets Girl.

Models walking the runway wore our "Falcon" wedge and we think they looked amazing!! Surprise musical guest, Natasha Bedingfield also rocked out in a pair.

We are excited and think you should be too. ;)

Adele

U.K. pop singer-songwriter, Adele, has a truly powerful and soulful voice. She really knows how to belt it out, all without even taking off her gloves. Enjoy her NPR: Tiny Desk Concert where she preforms "the heartbreaking ballad "Someone Like You," the ubiquitous hit "Chasing Pavements" and the first single from 21, "Rolling in the Deep" — with only the low-key accompaniment of keyboardist Miles Robertson and guitarist Ben Thomas."

Seychelles at NYFW

Some of the Seychelles girls are off to New York to catch the end of fashion week and enjoy the big apple!! We are so proud to be collaborating with two amazing brands walking the runway, Boy Meets Girl and Ivana Helsinki.  We'll be back with photos and details to share of our travels!

Blame it on the Rain.

It is dreary and rainy today in Los Angeles and I kind of like it. It is the type of weather that makes you want to stay inside, snuggle under the covers and watch a movie or three.

As the old adage goes, a little goes a long way. This fashion short perfectly embraces that. It has just the right amount of everything.

In honor of the rain, enjoy Norman Cavazzana's Fashion Film 2.

Bill Cunningham's Film

I am so excited to see this documentary on the original street style photographer, Bill Cunningham!  This 83-year old legendary New York Times photographer paved the way for fashion blogs today.  A visionary who was "not just interested in celebrities with their free dresses" but truly believed "the best fashion show is on the street. It always has been and always will be.”
