Music Friday - Milow.

Went to a show last night at the Troubadour in Los Angeles and discovered an artist from Belgium named Milow. I realize we might be a little late to the game with our discovery but he was amazing. Definitely one to add to your play NOW list.

His biggest stateside success is his cover of 50 Cent & Justin Timberlake's AYO Technology and after hearing it live last night we know why.

We dug a little deeper in our research and found this great duet he recorded with Marit Larsen, a Norwegian singer songwriter, entitled Out of My Hands. It's stunning and we love the way they shot the video almost as much as the song.

Enjoy the music find and have a great weekend.

What projects do you have lined up??

Seychelles Dream Closet Vol. 3: Mary & Michelle Mangiliman

We're happy to announce the third installment in our Dream Closet Series featuring Mary and Michelle Mangiliman, the stylish sisters behind one of our favorite Brooklyn boutiques, Dalaga. Named “Best Dresses” by New York Magazine and Brooklyn’s #1 Classic Boutique by Refinery29, Dalaga was the first retail store front to open on the now thriving Franklin Street. Always the forefront of style, Mary and Michelle offer an expertly curated selection of clothing and accessories. We went behind-the-scenes with them to talk fashion, family and get their insider wardrobe secrets.

Scenes from Coachella

I just got back from Coachella and I'm about to get on a flight straight to Taiwan but I wanted to share some photos from my weekend in the desert. As a music industry veteran I was fortunate enough to have a guest pass that let me get the best view in the house for all the bands I wanted to check out.

Left: I'm always lucky enough to stay with my friend who has a wonderful house in the desert.
Right: Beautiful day at the festival! I've actually never been on that ferris wheel, even though I've been to the festival many times.

Left: One of my favorite acts of the weekend, Destroyer's music is always so beautiful.
Right: The gorgeous and talented Laura Marling, I've been waiting for a long time to see her live.

Left: Los Angeles band Dawes has been a favorite of mine for quite some time.
Right: Andrew Bird has one of the most magical and creative sets! He was perfect at the Outdoor Stage.

Left: One of the sets I was most impressed with was Bon Iver!
Right: One of the many art pieces sprinkled out throughout the festival grounds.

I didn't get photos of some of my favorite acts of the weekend including Jeff Mangum and Mazzy Star. There was so much more to the weekend than these quick snapshots but this is all I have time to share for now!

Is anyone going Weekend 2? Who are you looking forward to see?

A Diffferent Perspective.

In honor of the impending Earth Day, we wanted to share the masterful imagery of Yann Arthus-Bertrand

A couple of years ago we were gifted EARTH FROM THE AIR from a friend who lived in Europe and had seen a gallery exhibit featuring his work.

We were floored by the beauty, simplicity and point of view his images displayed. His concept is simple; travel the world by helicopter snapping photos with a high intensity camera of how the earth appears from above our normal view point and share it.

His series of books are best sellers across the globe, so if you haven't indulged in paging through, viewing his gallery or seeing an exhibit; start your journey here.

Music + Adventure.

We wanted to share this video from TIGER IN A JAR featuring a new project they are working on with the band Matteo.

We don't know many details except they're traveling to China to record Matteo's musical discovery process. We can't wait to see where their journey takes them.

In the Kitchen with Seychelles

Spring is gradually peeking it's head out and that means soon we'll have a bounty of fresh spring fruits and veggies. However, we're going to miss the comfort of our winter root vegetables and so we're paying homage to one of our favorite seasonal veggies, beets. We can't get enough of this quick and easy beet soup recipe. The best part? It's even better the next day, so it's great for making a giant pot and saving for leftovers!

What You'll Need:

2 beets, diced into small cubes
1 medium onion, small dice
2 carrots, small dice
2 new potatoes, small dice
1/4 head of cabbage, chopped thin and small
1 clove of garlic, pressed or chopped
2 diced tomatoes (canned tomatoes will work fine, too)
Vegetable broth or Bouillon cube
Sour Cream (optional)

Sautée onion on medium until soft, add garlic and the remainder of the vegetables (except for the tomato) and sauté about 5 minutes, stirring to keep from burning.

Add tomatoes and enough vegetable broth to cover the vegetables, plus a few inches.

Simmer for 30 to 45 minutes.

Check potato and beet for softness. When veggies are ready add salt to taste. Taste it!! Beets will get sweeter if cooked a little longer so you can let it cook 10 minutes and check the taste again.

Remove from heat and serve with sour cream if you like it or want pink soup. Bon Appétit!

(We prefer to use red beets because they are a bit sweeter and who can resist a rich, red soup! But in a pinch we've used golden beets and they are tasty as well.)

ETSY love - Home.

( 1 2 3 4 5 6 )

We've been in a decor state of mind lately, so we decided to depart from the fashion world for a split moment and seek and find some amazing must haves for the empty spaces/walls in our homes. We sifted through some of our favorite sellers on ETSY to find treasures we'd love to own.

Voila, let us know who your favorite sellers are, we are always looking for more circles to join.

Color Therapy.

Color collective is a stunning resource for everything color! Need to get inspired? Need color direction? Need to soak in some beautiful imagery? Whatever the case is, this blog/resource center is the perfect place to start.

Created by Lauren Willhite as a designers resource, her work can also be found as a contributor on Design* Sponge Design for Mankind or her personal blog Squid

Enjoy and happy weekend!!

something so good we had to share

It takes a lot of nerve to attempt to cover a Michael Jackson song. The king of pop has one of the most show stopping voices of all time. Although nobody can top the original classic "Billie Jean," The Civil Wars did an amazing job of giving it a fresh new sound. We love this moody, bluesy version. What do you think? Did they pull it off?

Old, Modern, New.

We stumbled upon these vintage graphic design images of MODERN LETTERING by Draughtsman from 1940. We think they're so amazing and could be brilliant hung up in a room as a poster or as a sketching guide for lettering design.
