Behind the Lens: Camilla Åkrans

Camilla Åkrans is a Swedish fashion photographer who takes a painter's approach to shooting photographs. She began her career in 1999 and has since built up a reputation for her stunning and romantic point of view.

Seychelles In Love

Last spring, our very own Laura Willison threw her dream wedding in her parent's backyard in rural Wisconsin. She dressed her bridesmaids in Seychelles to complete the look. We asked Laura to share her wedding inspiration and here's what she said:

"We wanted our wedding to be really personal, so my focus was less on creating a traditional wedding and more of planning a really great, intimate dinner party. It was Gatsby-esque in the sense that we had it black tie but held it in my parent’s backyard and a farmhouse/garden tent. There was something appealing about being all dressed up and standing in the grass.


My inspiration was vintage/bespoke. We didn’t really have colors but if I had to choose they were gray and cream. I filled the party with items we have in our house like an old gramophone, vintage frames, a chandelier, a mirror, birdcages and a vintage desk for our sign-in book. We had a projector playing Somewhere in Time, Great Gatsby and Say Anything on the outdoor bar tent wall and our flowers were placed in mismatched ball jars, green depression glass and white hobnail vases and served as the centerpieces. We had our cake on an antique sideboard and our entire wedding party ate off of mismatched vintage china I had collected from Etsy. We gave away vintage seed packets filled with geraniums, dahlias and amaryllis and had the entire playlist from start to finish (our DJ hated us) picked out with only music that has meaning to us as a couple.


Seychelles added the perfect touch of modern vintage. The shoes were glamorous and comfortable and served as the perfect addition to my bridesmaids closets."

That Girl...

Jennifer was so modest when we approached her about her adorable retro-looking outfit. She exclaimed "I just got off work!" Well, we think she looked gorgeous, even after a hard day's work.

her personal style, in her own words: I'm really inspired by the 1960s and 1970s, when clothing was more free. I love folksy and Western looks, but always love classic shapes.

her personal style, in her words: Sporadic and all over the place. I usually wear all black, you happened to catch me on a day where I threw in some color to mix it up!

We just love traveling the country and getting a chance to meet different girls with incredible style. While in NYC we had the chance to catch up with some superbly stylish ladies and want to take the next few days to showcase their individual looks. Without further ado...

why we love her: she's not only adorable and stylish, but is smart, too. She's studying fashion at The New School and writes a blog, De Lune.

what she's wearing: Vintage cream shorts, a James Perse button-down shirt, Dolce & Gabbana body suit, and vintage bag and belt. Everything is thrifted!

her favorite places to shop: Thrift shops and vintage stores, and a lot of online shopping.

her personal style, in her words: Contrast. I like to play with mixing masculine and feminine and preppy and edgy.


Ode to Alexander

Some things are worth being a tourist for. Such was the case for Andrew Bolton's new Metropolitan Museum of Art project, Alexander McQueen . Savage Beauty.

The cast and crew from Seychelles went last week while in NYC and it was, in one word - amazing. Andrew's curation itself was something to discuss over a couple glasses of coffee or wine (whichever you prefer).
The genius, who was Alexander McQueen was dark, tortured, eccentric and supremely talented. He left the earth too early.

Savage Beauty is a masterpiece. In layman's terms, if you're in NYC, you MUST go.

When we first started planning the Garden Party and pop-up shop, we just knew we had to make Smilebooth a part of it. We've seen them pop up at all the coolest events in LA and around the blog world, so naturally we wanted them to help make our event special, too. Much to our delight (but no surprise) all the folks at Smilebooth are uber cool and awesome to work with. Need evidence? Look at how much fun we all had!

Happy Happy Audrey.



Audrey Hepburn would have been 82 today. She was not only a fashion icon but a pioneer (of sorts) for women in film.

She was beautiful, smart and left us with a catalog of witty famous quotes.
